Series of videos to explain role of ADAS

By 2020, 40% of all vehicles on UK roads will feature at least two Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), many of which rely on an accurately calibrated windscreen-mounted camera in order to function effectively.

Production of a series of educational videos is now underway at National Windscreens designed to explain the role of ADAS and what needs to happen to keep these safety systems working as intended.

Rob Roberts, regional training manager at National Windscreens, explains: “There has been massive growth in the use of ADAS technology over the last two years. Our research indicates however that there is still a lack of awareness of these systems and, even more importantly, the need to undertake camera calibration following a windscreen replacement. This calibration is essential to ensure these safety systems continue to work as intended.”

“These new videos provide an easy to understand overview of the function of ADAS systems, why camera calibration is so important and what the calibration process should involve according to the Thatcham Code of Practice.”

The videos will be made available on www.nationalwindscreens.co.uk in October.
