Saint-Gobain, which counts a number of well-known construction brands amongst its portfolio including Jewson, British Gypsum and Celotex, operates a fleet of approximately 5000 commercial vehicles and cars based out of more than 1000 locations - delivering goods to building merchants’ and trade outlets, as well as directly to customers, across the whole of the UK.

Working with trusted suppliers is vital in ensuring any Vehicle Off Road time is kept to an absolute minimum, which is why Saint-Gobain has contracted National Windscreens for all of its vehicle glazing requirements for the past nine years.

As part of its dedicated Fleet Cover service, National Windscreens supplies regular Management Information (MI) to help customers effectively manage their vehicles and budgets. The latest MI for the Saint-Gobain contract showed an average ‘time to serve’ of just 44 hours from initial booking to job completion – with 74% of jobs finalised within the company’s same day/next day target.

Dave Carter, Fleet Manager, comments, “National Windscreens always sets out to ensure it reacts promptly and with the correct glass to complete the job on a first visit basis. Customer welfare and health and safety is always high on the agenda and jobs are finished to a high standard at very competitive market rates.”

National Windscreens is able to provide its industry leading ‘time to serve’ thanks to a number of factors including its extensive fitting centre network, the largest in the UK. 108 centres spread between Redruth in Cornwall and Elgin in Scotland enable the independently owned company to hold its own glazing stock which can considerably reduce waiting time. In addition, support from 800 mobile units means that on average a UK motorist is never more than 11 miles or 20 minutes away from a National Windscreens technician.

A digital job booking system allows effective job scheduling and maximises productivity, whilst the parts check facility reduces incidents of technicians arriving with the wrong stock, as Regional Sales and Marketing Director, Martyn Bennett, explains, “Our business has more than 30 years’ experience of working with the fleet sector and we know what matters most to fleet operators of all sizes. Our parts check facility means our mobile technicians arrive at all jobs equipped with the correct replacement glazing should it be required, but we always aim to ‘Repair First’ wherever possible – saving customers both time and money.”

National Windscreens is proud to work with over 150 major fleet companies including emergency services, local authorities and government bodies.
