What is ADAS calibration?

The second in our series of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) videos presents the importance of calibrating the windscreen-mounted cameras used by ADAS. The previous video in the series explained the role of ADAS in a vehicle: ‘What is ADAS?’

At National Windscreens, we know that accurate calibration of windscreen-mounted cameras used in ADAS is a simple matter of safety. Every time a windscreen is replaced or the vehicle is subject to anything that may affect the camera alignment, it is critical that the windscreen-mounted camera is recalibrated to ensure the vehicle’s safety systems continue to operate as intended.

A minority of vehicles can be calibrated by driving the vehicle, a process known as dynamic calibration, but over 70% of manufacturers require their systems to be calibrated under workshop conditions, which is known as static calibration.

National Windscreens ADAS qualified technicians are trained to the highest standards, ensuring your vehicle is calibrated not only according to manufacturer's specifications but also to the Thatcham code of practice. Once we're satisfied that the camera calibration has been successfully completed, we present a certificate detailing the work undertaken, giving our customers peace-of-mind.
