National Windscreens remains the right place for a long-term career, says regional managing director Mark Payne.
Mark, now celebrating 33 years with National Windscreens, has risen through the ranks starting as a trainee windscreen fitter in 1988.
Following four years as a managing fitter at Leicester, Mark opened a fitting branch in Derby in 1995, before moving to Leicester to open the first distributing/fitting branch in the UK. A series of promotions followed into managerial positions, firstly as regional manager for the Midlands in 2002, then the South in 2004, before becoming operations manager in 2006, operations director in 2010, and most recently managing director in 2020.
“The progression is there for anyone that wants to progress, it’s a great place to work if you want to commit, put yourself forward and the opportunities are there and will come for people if they want to progress.
The benefits of building a career here are you have a great team of people around you. It’s the variety of different roles and meeting people and building reputations and relationships that has really been motivating over my time here,” Mark said.
“The entire face of the company has changed over the last few decades with windscreen replacement moving from a business area more related to car dealerships and garages, to a customer service industry, with National Windscreens now servicing a market that is providing an integral part of any vehicle’s safety system,” Mark says.
“We’ve adapted all the working processes to the modern standards you’d expect with repairing the crucial safety structure of the vehicle, including major investment in canopies, lifting equipment and training,” he adds.
