As the UK’s largest independently owned windscreen repair and replacement specialist, National Windscreens fitting centres and staff throughout the country support a wide range of charities all year round.
Following last week’s amazing donation of toys for children supported by Barnado’s, staff based at National Windscreens’ South West headquarters turned their attention to helping a local animal charity.
Bristol based Holly Hedge Animal Sanctuary launched an ‘animal shoebox appeal’ to help ease the burden on its limited resources over the festive period and National Windscreens decided to help!
Nicky Coetsee, Regional Director and General Manager at National Windscreens, elaborates, “Holly Hedge rescues and rehomes around 800 animals each year, finding loving and responsible new homes for each and every one of them.
“They receive no funding from the government or national lottery and rely solely on the goodwill of the public. It costs approximately £475,000 every year to run – that's over £1,330 each and every single day! We asked our staff for donations and their generosity enabled us to fill 20 archive boxes with food, toys and treats, and a further 11 archive boxes of items for Holly Hedge’s charity shops.”
This time of year is notoriously busy for rescue centres; many animals are sadly abandoned in the run up to Christmas to make way for new puppies. Nicky continues, “It is a sad fact that the charity has to keep checking its gates on Christmas Eve as they often get dogs tied up and left. We wanted to help them as much as possible during this busy time and once again, our staff have pulled out all the stops to give as much as possible.”
Holly Hedge Animal Sanctuary commented, “We are so moved by the kindness and generosity of our supporters. Your donations will make such a difference to our rescue animals while they wait for their forever homes this festive season.”
