National Windscreens' swift response results in renewed sole supplier status for Home Office framework

National Windscreens is delighted to announce that it has been appointed sole supplier to the Home Office framework titled ‘The Supply and Fit of Road Vehicle Windscreens and Glass Supplies’ for a further four year term.

The framework is primarily intended for Police Force use, but is available for other emergency services also. The framework agreement will cover a single lot for Supply alone and the Supply and Fit of Road Vehicle Windscreens and Glass Supplies. This award will help the Police to keep a mobile vehicle fleet to use in their law enforcement duties to protect and serve the public.Alt text not available

This latest appointment is the third consecutive time that National Windscreens has submitted a successful tender for the Home Office framework.

National Windscreens’ Fleet Sales Manager, Graham Furneaux-Porter, elaborates: “Having any vehicle off the road for even a short period of time can have a real impact on an organisation’s performance. For emergency services, such as those covered in the Home Office framework, this can be even more crucial as it could literally mean the difference between life and death. As a result, the tender process focused heavily on the applicants’ company structure and service capability.”

A tendering exercise, following UK and EU public procurement regulations, was completed using a competitive procurement that was open to all suppliers who could provide national coverage for a Fleet involving 44,000 vehicles covering 43 forces in England, Wales, and Police Scotland.

The national framework is designed to ensure Police Forces and other Emergency Services can easily access Glass and Glazing services via a compliant route to market, and that also offers value for money whilst at the same time delivering collaboration and standardisation. In the current economic climate faced by the public sector, value for money is imperative and therefore all suppliers are expected to demonstrate they offer a high-quality service, coupled with national coverage.

National Windscreens is able to offer an industry leading ‘time to serve’ thanks to its continued commitment to a customer focussed business strategy which includes keeping its 108 UK wide fitting centres, supported by 800 mobile technicians, at a time when other service providers are closing branches.

The company is also able to invest in the latest technologies to ensure customers always receive the best service possible by streamlining its service and focussing on its core business of automotive glazing repair and replacement.

National Windscreens’ unique glass identification software, ‘Partscheck’, supports the company’s ‘right first time’ policy by ensuring mobile glazing technicians arrive equipped with the correct replacement windscreen should it be required. Partscheck has handled more than 180,000 enquiries since its launch last year and is currently running at 99.5% accuracy.

National Windscreens is delighted that this national framework has been awarded to a single supplier. The framework is a vital part of the process of keeping vehicles roadworthy and available for use in law enforcement roles, and will run for 48 months until September 2019 with the objective of providing a consistent and standardised service across the Forces and Emergency services area.

A Home Office spokesman commented “Following a compliant competitive tender process we were satisfied that we could award to National Windscreens and obtain a value for money service to our standards across the whole of the UK.”

The framework covers all vehicles within the relevant authority’s fleet including un-marked cars, minibuses, people carriers, vans and larger trucks.
